I've always enjoyed the Latin influenced disco music, lots of horn arrangements ect...but never the less exciting & pulsating!
Tierra is an early-'70s spin-off group from El Chicano, Tierra kept plugging away until 1980, when they scored some brief success on the R&B charts doing Afro-Latin-flavored soul covers...
Here's one of the more uptempo selections:: Latin Disco

Billy Preston's music has been a part of just about everyone's world whether they know it or not. He was a well accomplished piano/organ keys player who sowed his oats early on by playing organ for such figures as Ray Charles and Little Richard.
Shortly after he worked on a bunch albums with bands that rocked the 60's & early 70's. He played keys on records for Sly Stone, The Rolling Stones, Quincy Jones, The Beatles and pretty everyone in the spectrum of the music scene at the time. He also wrote the now standard "You Are So Beautiful" which his homie Joe Cocker ended up singing.
He eventually got to doing his solo thing which scored him a string of No.1 singles, he even won a few coveted Grammy Awards for "Outta Space" and "Space Race" to name a couple.
He lived right up to 2006 actively touring & making records.
This one is "Sock it Rock It"

Here he is rocking the Hammond B3
Ralph MacDonald biggest pop record came in the form of Calypso Breakdown which was featured on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. If you're a Dj it's a mandatory piece of vinyl in your collection or if you're a 70's child you had the poster hangin' on your wall & the cassette in your parents stereo annoying the crap out of them with your newly found fancy gyrating disco moves..
Anyways for the eclectic heads that know of MacDonalds discography he's an all around maverick and in my eyes is the father of "Calypso Disco Funk".
He still tours to this very day as a matter of fact he's playing Madison Square Garden w/ Jimmy Buffet Nov.24th 2009...Boooom there you go!!

The Catherine Wheel is a fantastic album by the one & only David Byrne. He was already well into his solo career when this Lp was released in 1982. It was the recorded soundtrack for Broadway production under the same title. The Catherine Wheel was recorded with a number of musicians from the Talking Heads' then-current touring band Adrian Belew, Bernie Worrell & Steve Scales.
"The Catherine Wheel" premiered September 22, 1981 at the Winter Garden Theater in New York City
This song is called::The Red House
He's an interesting project David Byrne is working on called "Playing The Building"
A long time staple in the jazz community Herbie Hancock got into writing funk & disco songs once the anolog synths came along in the 70's.This was around the same time the Vocoder emerging as a premiere instrument as well. This is one of those Herbie Hancock albums that has been overlooked. Feets, Don't Fail Me Now is the twenty-seventh album by Herbie Hancock. This song is called ::"Trust Me" Here's Herbie & The Headhunters Live in Chicago 1974
I came across this compilation called "Porn Grooves" not too long ago from a nifty company called Secret Stash Records. It features the stylings of an obscure band called the The Upstrokes not to be confused with the Ska Punk band that has the same name. This Lp is only sold on vinyl so get it while it's still available! This songs called: In My El Camino
One of my first Stevie Wonder records that I got was Eivets Rednow. I scored this in Franklin County, Ohio at a 7-11 that happen to have a records for sale bin. The thing about it is that I had no idea it was Stevie's album until I read the credits. Considering his name is spelled backwards on the sleeve I was rather surprised that this was my score. When I was djing at Bob's Salon in LES, NYC the security guys girlfriend was in disbelief that I owned this records apparently it was a childhood favorite of her's.
Wikipedia says: Eivets Rednow (prominently featuring "Alfie" by Burt Bacharach and Hal David) is a 1968 instrumental album released by Stevie Wonder under the pseudonym Eivets Rednow on the Gordy (Motown) label. *Which Way The Wind*::Stevie Wonder
Cindy Mizelle's first and only solo artist 12" single from the soundtrack to the 1984 movie "Beat Street". Since then she has evolved into one of the most in-demand singers of popular music as a featured vocalist, and released a self-titled album in 1994.. Dj Alfreako**Alfredo Romero is a NYC based Record Producer / DJ influenced by equal parts Funk, Disco, Psych, Garage Rock, 60's French Pop, No-Wave, Soul, House, Hip-Hop, Afro Beat, Punk, Calypso & anything that sounds great, this music aficionado spins it all.
