So as of lately i've been on a early 80's R&B resurgence. An example of one of these fly by night one hit wonders is Sybil. Best know for her cover of Dionne Warwick's "Don't Make Me Over" she still tours the world based off that one song.

**Smokey Is Big Time**

I've always been a fan of Smokey Robinson, in this instance I was stoked when I scored this record years ago. It's the soundtrack for a movie called "Big Time" on Tamia records in 1977.

*Mark The 45 King Turns The Party Out*

If you're a party go-er/Dj/NYC resident then you know about the great "The 45 King".His biggest record to date is Jay-Z's Hard Knock Life, which to me is mediocre compared to his track record of goodness stemming for the 80's on.
My favorite records he produced were a bunch of singles/Lp cuts he made for The Native Tongues collective, folks like Jungle Bros, Tribe Called Quest, ect..
This record came out in 1988 on Tuff City Records, which I believe is now defunkt. Vocals by M.C. La Kim. It includes the original edit of "The 900 Number"
This cut is called "Turn The Party Out"

*This Is As Close As It'll Get To Summer's Heat*

Bill Summers is just one of the guys that rolls with the times. Judging from the span of his recordings I would have to say that he's a well rounded versitle musician. Sounds that ranges from mid-70's funk & soul to disco early 80's R&B..never the less this song kicks ass!!

Things People Like:::Sea, Sex & Sun::

Of course we all know what hot & foxy is within our pulsating libidos. Internationally renowned Frenchman Serge Gainsbourg always had his finger on the magic button that stirs up those impulses, par example the 1978 song Sea, Sex & Sun. There's always been a certain feeling that he brought to the table via his sophisticate trippy sound. This particular selection has a bit of an Italo twist without losing the feel of the sand between your toes on the French Riviera. Here's the English version...

*Wide World of Classy Funk Via New Jersey*

Instant Funk is one of the better groups out of the 70's. Most of the records I have from their catalog are on the ever so giving Salsoul label. This band shared their sound before they formed as back up musicians for the Manhattans, Lou Rawls, Evelyn King, O'Jays, MFSB & Curtis Mayfield among others.
Hailing from Jersey they relocated to Philly where they released their first Lp called "Get Down With the Philly Jump" . The group followed this album up with a release for former MFSB guitarist Norman Harris' new record label Gold Mind entitled "Let Me Party With You". When Gold Mind folded they when on to Salsoul where the Larry Levan remixed "I Got My Mind Made Up" hit #1 on both the R&B and disco charts and #20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the spring of 1979. The group's eponymous first album on Salsoul was also a hit, reaching #1 R&B and being certified gold disc status.
This song is a bit loungy & swank. It's called "Wide World Of Sports"..
